Torrent Streams Into New York & USWNT

It’s always nice to see stories of teams doing well and growing the grassroots game. Alvechurch FC are doing just that. Achieving back to back promotions, they have also started a new feeder team, AFC Church to give players coming through the youth ranks some experience. It’s what grassroots is all about!

Not sure if anyone at US Soccer Federation reads these posts (doubtful), but after yesterday’s post the US Soccer website is filled with the amazing things the USWNT are up to, and there’s the story for the USWNT U17 ladies who made the World Cup. Well done to the content manager there, nice to see! When you have a team that is experiencing second and third generation success it should be highlighted.

Domenec Torrent has left Pep Guardiola, the man he has worked with for 11 years to become the new head coach of New York City FC, following the departure of Vieira to Nice. It’s possible the guy has picked up some tips along the way and it’s exciting to see the philosophy Cruyff built way back is now hitting the US. There is potential that this move and the ideas that come with Torrent could do more to ignite MLS than any number of big names at the end of their career.
